
The all new Nissan LEAF has been awarded the prestigious title of World’s Best Compact Car 2026 by the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury, further cementing its position as one of the most exciting new electric cars coming to the UK market.
This global recognition comes ahead of the model’s arrival in Northern Ireland, with the new Nissan LEAF coming soon to Pat Kirk Nissan in Omagh.
Now in its third generation, the Nissan LEAF continues to lead the way in electric vehicle innovation. The latest version has been praised for its modern aerodynamic design, impressive electric performance, intuitive technology and its important role in helping drivers transition to electric motoring.
The WWCOTY awards celebrate vehicles that perform exceptionally in areas that matter most to real world drivers, including safety, quality, value for money, design, ease of driving, practicality and environmental impact.
The 2026 jury was made up of 84 automotive journalists from 54 countries, making it one of the most internationally respected car awards programmes in the world. The organisation was founded in 2009 by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre to promote diversity within the automotive industry and to highlight the importance of mobility worldwide.
The upcoming Nissan LEAF combines sleek styling with an advanced electric powertrain, offering extended range thanks to an available 75kWh battery, capable of delivering up to 386 miles on a single charge.
Manufactured in the UK, the new LEAF will be priced from £32,249 and will be eligible for the full £3,750 UK Electric Car Grant, making it one of the most accessible long range electric cars in its class.
